Pacquiao, to give up the WBC junior middleweight crown

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao will give up his World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight crown.

According to him, he doesn’t have any plan to fight in the 154-pound division because of the height and weight disadvantages on his part, like what happened to him in his fight against Antonio Margarito.

In Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight for the WBC junior middleweight title, Margarito was 17 pounds heavier and almost 5 inches taller than Pacquaio.

Even if he was able to smash Margarito down, the pound-for-pound king was hurt very badly because of the opponent’s punches especially on his body.

On May 7th, Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against 5-time world champion Sugar Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao will only fight at the heaviest 147 pounds for his 6 remaining fights before retirement.
